VUNA, THE PLANT-BASED ALTERNATIVE THAT CLEANS 14.5 TONNES OF NETS FROM THE SEA

With the aim of restoring marine life affected by one of the most lethal plastic waste, Garden Gourmet joins our Plastic Free Oceans commitment to eliminate 14.5 tonnes of ghost nets from the seas by 2022. An objective that is aligned with the launch of its new vegetable product: VUNA.

«A PLANT-BASED PRODUCT THAT COMBATS GHOST FISHING NETS»

Aware of the high consumption of tuna in Spain and the large number of fishing nets that are thrown into the sea to obtain canned fish, which often end up on the seabed contaminating the fauna and flora, the leading brand in Spain in meat products, Garden Gourmet, is launching its vegan alternative.

To achieve this, they thought of Gravity Wave to take real action for the seas and thus manage to remove 14.5 tonnes of  fishing ghost nets scattered around the Mediterranean.

A partnership that raises awareness.

The launch of VUNA took place at Barcelona’s seaport. This product, which is the vegan alternative to tuna, shared the limelight with the mission and the challenge of reducing fishing nets from the sea, eliminating them from seas and seaports, and then giving them a new life through different pieces of furniture.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=»10856″ img_size=»medium» alignment=»center»][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row disable_background_image=»» simple_background_image=»11104″][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=»1/4″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=»1/2″][vc_empty_space height=»43″][vc_empty_space height=»43″][vc_empty_space height=»43″][vc_empty_space height=»43″][vc_empty_space height=»43″][vc_empty_space height=»43″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=»1/4″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_content_width=»grid» disable_background_image=»» simple_background_image=»10764″][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=»1/4″][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=»1/2″][vc_empty_space height=»43″][vc_column_text]

Garden Gourmet’s VUNA becomes the benchmark vegAN tuna brand for cleaning the ocean.

Overall, we have put the spotlight on one of the major challenges: fishing ghost nets.

The products they used for their VUNA launch were these giant letters and tables made from our Gravity material, which they are now raffling off to their consumer community.

The action was covered by different media and online actions that managed to raise awareness among more than 8 million people throughout Spain. [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=»25″][vc_column_text]

No action, no future

This project with VUNA is a clear example of how to contribute to the sustainability of the seas, not only because they provide a vegan alternative for tuna, but also because they are committed to reducing the fishing nets that are thrown into the sea and which often end up on the seabed, damaging its ecosystem.

Cleaning the sea, decorating spaces with corporate lettering, or making tables out of plastic from the bottom of the sea are actions that taste as good as this new vegan tuna.
