FISHERMEN, THE MAIN ACTORS

Behind our mission for plastic-free oceans is the effort of traditional fishermen or plastic fishermen who help us to remove the plastic that accumulates in the oceans every time they go out to sea.
Thanks to those over 4,000 fishermen around the Mediterranean, we manage to reduce plastic pollution.

FIND OUT WHERE WE ARE
These are the Mediterranean seaports where we work to contribute to the cleanliness of this sea. In Spain, we are present in over 35 fishing seaports in more than 5 countries.
TURNING THE TIDE AGAINST PLASTIC POLLUTION

When the plastic fishermen leave the fishing seaports they find tonnes of waste and fishing nets that they take advantage of to fish and bring to port. Once on land, they deposit it in the containers we have created to collect these nets and then recycle them.
Faced with this harsh reality, many of them have decided to join us to achieve cleaner seas.
The good thing about plastic is that it can be reused to create furniture and decorative products that are recyclable and sustainable over time.
There is still time to save the planet as long as we join forces. Thanks to our plastic fishermen, we are positively impacting the Mediterranean sea.

THE ROLE
OF PLASTIC FISHERMAN

Thousands of people have been participating in the Spanish seaports joining Gravity Wave and other brands in order to clean the sea through sustainable fishing for the last 3 years.
For every kilo of plastic collected from the sea, we compensate the hard work of the plastic fishermen who participate.
There is also a huge collaboration in Europe’s major seaports sharing the same goal. .
PLASTIC FISHERMEN IN SPAIN

We have set up containers in Spanish seaports for fishermen participating in our mission to clean our seas by depositing the fishing ghost nets they find.
It is a joint effort in which we all do our bit.
The fishermen are aware that the pollution issue affects us all. They know it is in their hands to remove and prevent more nets from falling into the sea.

CONFRATERNITIES - TOWARDS A COMMON PURPOSE

Plastic pollution affects them, affects us all. The fishermen’s guilds live off the sea, and they are the first ones to realise that something has to be done now. They are working with us in every way possible to stop this critical situation.
In collaboration with ENALEIA and CEPESCA we have formed a network of over traditional fishermen who help us in our mission, and we are sure that this wave of awareness will continue to grow.
