What if design could clean the sea?
The Spain Pavilion at Expo Osaka makes it a reality. Designed by Extudio, Enorme Studio, and Smart and Green Design, and promoted by Acción Cultural Española, this space transforms plastics and fishing nets recovered from the sea into recycled panels by Gravitec by Gravity Wave. An experience where beauty, sustainability, and purpose come together to remind us that design can be part of the solution.

Acabados

2,247 kg of recovered fishing nets

33% fewer CO₂ emissions with Gravitec panels

Panels used in interiors, store, and signage

Inspired by the Kuroshio ocean current

“The pavilion’s leitmotif is the blue economy, and from the beginning, we wanted to highlight the innovation emerging in Spain. When we discovered Gravity Wave’s work, we knew it was the perfect fit to bring that innovation into the pavilion’s visual identity.

Gravity Wave’s materials aligned seamlessly with the deep-sea inspiration behind our design. The texture and tonal nuances of the recycled panels offer a unique aesthetic that allows us to visually convey an authentic identity, fully aligned with the message we want to share with the world.”
